  Dr. Jacobson was the luck of the draw, on- call doctor, when I went into labor with my son 3 years ago. I had called the answering service several times that morning and left messages for the on call doctor to contact me. It was my second child, but had been 7 years since my last birth. I was spotting blood, and felt heavy contractions, but could not time them well. After my fourth call in she finally called me back at 7 AM and told me to try and wait it out till the office opened at 9, and go see them there. At 7:30 I started hard labor, contractions less than a minute apart. I could feel the baby was very low, and I knew my cervix had dilated very fast in the last half hour. I called her back at the hospital and told a nurse to tell her I was on my way in. I also left a message with the answering service stating I couldn't wait, I was on my way to the hospital. When I arrived they told me she had just left, the next doctor would be in soon. They brought me to the prep room to check my status. The nurse found I was fully dilated, the baby was crowning. They had to call her back a couple times I was told, in order to get her to pick up, and tell her she HAD to come back, the next on call doctor would not be there in time to deliver me. When Dr. Jacobson came in she was visible, and verbally mad at me for not holding off, and forcing her to come back for my delivery. I don't think she once spoke to me in a normal tone, it was all screaming. My babies head was half way out and she was yelling at me she wouldn't deliver my child until I took out my pregnancy belly ring, and tongue ring! Which I was forced to do as the nurses rushed to try and get my IV to stay in my arm! As soon as I removed the rings, she yelled at me to push, as soon as I did she started screaming at me to stop! I was nervous enough on my own, and feeling as if I was going to pass out any second, and here she is full of anger, not explaining anything, just yelling at me! My babies cord was wrapped around his neck. Maybe if instead of being so pushing and avoiding me until she got her own way, she had done a quick exam with her hands, she would have know before that push, that the cord was wrapped, and possibly the reason my labor was so fast and hard. In the end I was at the hospital for 25 minutes before my baby was born. She was there for 10 minutes of that labor. After she pulled my placenta out, and stitched me up.. I dont remember seeing her again. Even after requesting to speak with her, because I felt it was a complication that parts of me were now hanging out, that I never thought would be! Instead my nurse had to come back and explain the situation, and you could tell that she was uncomfortable doing so, as she had never see that before and wasn't sure if how to explain things to me! Dr. Jacobson was great, when I was not in labor, but for a delivery doctor, I felt she was lacking.
